SPEEDWELL
The tug SPEEDWELL was built in 1968.
Powered by a 6cyl 240bhp Ruston engine,
but with the turbo is increased to 360bhp.
Crewed by two men her duties was to tow the dumb mud hoppers up and down the canal.
The 1910 built tug STANEGARTH used
to do this work until laid up some years ago.
Both the tugs have since been sold. The STANEGARTH was sold to a diving club and taken to an inland lake to be sunk!
