DUMB HOPPERS
Until 1997 dumb hoppers operated by British Waterways was the only method of transporting the mud to Purton.
Since 1997 both dumb and motor hoppers were used for this work.
The tug used to tow 3 hoppers, each crewed by two men, on the trip to and from Gloucester to Purton.
