The Wednesday Gang

Steam Dredger SND No 4 was built at Sliedrecht in Holland by N.V. Scheepsbouwwerfen Machinefabriek de Klop in 1925 for use at Sharpness and on the Gloucester & Sharpness Ship Canal.

Sadly a complete retube of the boiler was required before it could be steamed again. The Friends submitted a successful Heritage Lottery Fund bid with the help of The Waterways Trust and secured funding to have SND No 4 repaired. (See news below)

Built by William Balmforth of Rodley, near Leeds in about 1880 to lift one ton. Originally used at Kirkstall Forge Leeds, but typical of cranes used on many canal side wharves. Restored with the help of Friends of the Museum.
