THE SUCTION PLANT

Powerful pumps at the Suction Plant at Purton quickly pumped out the mud from the Hopper.

In less than 20 minutes 150 tonnes of mud was pumped, assisted by water turning it into slurry.

But where did all this mud go to?....

Pumping out at Purton

No time to hang around

THE SUCTION PLANT

The mud was pumped back into the River Severn!

The canal at Purton is 2 miles above Sharpness and close to the Severn.

It may seem stupid dumping the mud back into the river,  .......... where else could it have gone?
