Concrete barge at Purton
Lying forlorn on the foreshore at Purton is a former concrete barge. This is the graveyard of barges where lying on the bank of the Severn Estuary can be found remains of various types of barges.
They were placed here in the mid 20th century to strengthen the bank of the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal which runs close and parallel to the Severn at this point.
