BOAT SINKS AT WORCESTER

A British Waterways patrol boat sank today in Diglis Lock at Worcester. Unfortunately this resulted in a spillage of diesel into the River Severn, which caused concern for some nearby swans.
Firefighters from the Hereford & Worcester Brigade were called to pluck five of the swans from the river after they had swallowed a considerable amount of the diesel oil.
The swans were then taken to the Wychold based Swan Rescue Centre where assistant, Jan Harrigan, said that it had been a successful mission.
