Stonebench Inn

For years the Stonebench Inn has lain derelict on the banks of the Severn near to Gloucester. It was a valued watering hole for the crews of sailing vessels that used to trade along the river before the sixteen mile Gloucester and Sharpness Canal was built. Ships could get up the Severn on one tide to Gloucester, but it would take two tides to travel back down the river. Thus ships would find themselves aground at Stonebench on an ebbing tide so the inn was built!

Now local businessman, Mike May, wants to rebuild the inn at his own expense of £100,000 and convert it into a bore visitor centre. Then everyone could enjoy watching the bore from a safe vantage point and learn about this natural phenomenon. One slight problem, local Stroud District Council say that they will not give him permission to convert the inn into a centre! Will someone see sense and realise what potential this will be?
