New City Flood Defences

Worcester City Council has given the go ahead to erect a Europeanstyle flood system which will protect homes and businesses from serious flooding.

The scheme, which will cost in the region of £2,400 to install plus £1,00 per day to maintain during use, will be installed along Hylton Road.

The barriers are based on the Swedish style pallet system which comprises of a wall of wooden pallets covered in plastic sheeting. These can be erected faster than the water rises!

Hard luck Gloucester, due to the old saying "one man's flood defence is another man's flood"!
