Construction begins on new Severn Bridge
Work has begun on the new bridge crossing the Severn above Llanthony Weir at Gloucester. This will form part of the new long awaited Gloucester bypass across Alney Island from Hempsted. The section from Cole Avenue to Hempsted will be built at a later date when funding becomes available.
