Lower Lode Ferry Resumes Service Again

Twelve months ago the Environment Agency stopped the historic Lower Lode ferry from operating across the Severn. They were concerned that one of the moorings posed a risk during times of flooding.

To coincide with this weekend's Forthampton Golden Jubilee celebrations the ferry is to operate across the river once again. Although there is no permanent jetty, it would appear that passengers won't mind putting on wellies to get into the ferry!

The ferry will operate between midday and 3pm and then from 6pm until 11pm on weekdays and from noon until 11pm on weekends. The Environment Agency have no objections to the ferry operating and are still continuing with their talks to see if a more permanent solution can be found.
