HISTORIC DOCK GATES OPENED

For the past 30 years the outer lock gates at Lydney Dock have remained closed. In that time a vast amount of silt from the Severn Estuary has built up and blocked the entrance. This has now been cleared by the Environment Agency and yesterday the lock gates were opened once again.
Members of Lydney Yacht club will be the first to sail into the dock when they celebrate their anniversary during June.
This is the first move in the £1.9million project to regenerate the docks and surrounding area. However having seen an artist's impression of how it will look starts warning bells ringing. The proposed buildings looked totally out of keeping with how it used to look! Will they ever learn?
