THREE SAVED FROM THE FLOODS

Birmingham couple, Phil Harris and his girlfriend Linda Reay will not forget Gloucester in a hurry. On a day trip to se the Severn Bore at Stonebench they suddenly found themselves trapped on the roof of their car as the tide swept up the river and surged over the bank and into the nearby road.
Ironically a local man, Ben Hutchings, also became stuck as his van was swamped with water. He called for help on his mobile phone and soon the Fire Brigade were rescuing all three with the use of their two rescue boats.
